Why are you so mean to yourself?
How often do you say mean things to yourself?
I'm talking about thoughts like:
"I'm a failure."
"I don't do anything right."
"Why am I so dumb?"
Over the past week, I've been more critical on myself. There are times when I'll go down a spiral of the mistakes I made. Like tiny things like forgetting to include a flipping letter in a post.
I truly believe that the mind is the most powerful factor in what happens to us in the future. If you're always negative, you can't tap into your full potential in your career and life.
I came across an exercise that's helped me this past week and wanted to share with you.
Find a picture of your younger self and every time you say something negative... You're saying those mean nasty comments to your younger self in that photo.
Imagine how your innocent younger self would react to those harsh words.
I don't know about you but mini Christine would be crying a river with the mean stuff that I've said to myself this week. No amount of chicken nuggets would help her emotionally.
I usually hate seeing photos of myself but having a younger photo of me on my desk has made me become so much kinder to myself.
What do you do to reduce the negative comments you say to yourself?
Have a chicken nugget and stay flipping jolly,
Christine
