Will I regret this career change?
A question that use to keep me up at night...
Being a full-time (copy)writer never crossed my mind. In fact, the first copy I wrote was a sales page (wouldn't recommend doing that for beginner writers) that made me hate copywriting.
Plus, I was on my way to fulfilling my dreams of becoming a Paralympic strength coach and finishing my master's in Kinesiology.
What I didn't mention in the last post was that I almost declined the job offer because I thought it was a scam...
The only reason I changed my mind was because of my friend, Alex Cameron who happened to be one of the (copy)writers for this "agency". Also, the person who introduced me to copywriting.
We hopped on a call and I bombarded him with questions. We chatted about his career change from being an accountant to a fitness coach to a (copy)writer. Which reminded me of a sentence from one of Alex's Medium stories:
🏕️
You can be intentional with your life but to try and control every aspect of it will just cause you needless suffering
I used to have 13 backup plans if anything went wrong. But Alex helped me change my mindset and take risks and opportunities. I no longer see my career change as a potential regret. Instead, a way of growing as a person.
I've known Alex for three years and he's one of the most genuine people I've ever met. He's also an IRL friend and I consider him a mentor. He's one of the best copywriters I know. He's known as The Online Course Copywriter.
