"Christine, what the flippers are you making?"
No, not a chicken nugget machine. 😅
I'm creating a free editing checklist template on Notion that new non-gifted writers can tailor and adapt throughout their writing journey.
The checklist is mainly for editing emails, but you can adjust the questions and checklist for writing like atomic essays, tweets, and blogs. Â
Why am I creating this?
When I started working at The Wizards of Wordcraft in December 2020, my boss gave me 4 pages of editing questions to go through for each email, which took me 3 hours to edit my first email.
I was overwhelmed and frustrated with my slow progress. So I decided to create my own editing checklist to suit my learning style. Over time, my checklist evolved as I progressed in my learning journey. Here's a photo of what my checklist looks like.👇
Instead of going through 4 pages of editing questions all in one go, I broke up the editing process into 3 rounds with a couple questions for each toggle.
I'm not trying to be an expert (cause I'm for sure not). I'm creating this resource for Christine from December 2020, a slow learner that needs things broken down to better understand concepts.
Reply to this email with '👋' and I'll send you the free template when I launch in a couple weeks.
Building In Public
From the Build in Public Mastery course, we learned about Arvid Kahl's 4 stage process to building his course, which was:
Product Research & Development Stage
Pre-Launch
Launch
Post-Launch
For my product, I'm following Arvid's process. Right now, I'm in the 'Development Stage' where I've finished the Notion template and in the beta-testing process. If you're curious to learn more about my product and the behind the scenes, check out my Twitter thread below. Â
Weekly Resources and Lessons
I only have one lesson to share today...
At the age of 33, my friend, Christina, passed away this week from liver cancer. She was one of the people who inspired me to start powerlifting and believed in me when I doubted myself. I wish I thanked her more.
To celebrate her life, I'll be donating to Canadian Cancer Society.
I'm sharing this as a reminder not to take people for granted. When you can, make sure to tell people how much they mean to you. You never know when they might be gone forever.
